In-Person Instruction

In alignment with new guidance from the New York State Department of Health, Atmosphere has reinstated its full instructional program and is welcoming all scholars to come in person five days a week. Students need in-person instruction in order to realize their full potential. While Atmosphere's remote instruction has been innovative, it cannot replace the dynamic learning environment we provide in-person every day. It is time for students to return to classes in person.
Atmosphere expects all scholars to return in person by May 1st. At that time, any families that wish to remain remote will need to apply for a waiver and provide the school with proper documentation as to why remote is still required. During this transitional period, Atmosphere will continue to offer remote instruction via zoom to those permitted to remain at home. Please note that this remote option will be completely phased out as of July 1st.
Scholars will follow their full class schedule from 7:40 am to 3:26 pm. As discussed in the In-Person Reopening handbook below. Atmosphere has developed procedures to ensure the safety of all members of our school community.

In-Person Reopening Handbook Spring 2021

In-person instruction at Atmosphere is rigorous and dynamic. Scholars attend 70 minute class periods to gain a deep understanding of content and skills. In addition to instruction, scholars also receive differentiated intervention support in the class period to remediate deficits or to further advance. Teachers are providing modeling, assessing understanding, actively interacting with, and providing real-time feedback to students. While all scholars are provided comprehensive instructional classes, when scholars are in person, they can more readily participate in activities that foster collaboration and have more interactions with their peers, teachers, and support staff. Please visit our academic pages for more information.

Blended Instruction

Atmosphere continues to provide scholars with a full instructional program through blended instruction from 7:40 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Students follow a full course schedule, attending six 70-minute "classes."

Blended Instruction is a hybrid learning model consisting of in-person and remote days.

Students in 6th & 7th grade will be divided into Group A and Group B with each group receiving 2 days per week of in-person instruction and 3 days per week remote instruction.

Group A will come in on Monday and Thursday.

Group B will come in on Tuesday and Friday.

8th grade will not be divided into two different groups. 8th grade students & staff will follow the Group A schedule.

This will ensure that only half of any grade cohort will be in the building on a given day.

When groups are in-person, they will have class in spaces where maximum social distancing is possible like the gym for a group of 25 or a classroom for a group of 12.

Physical Education will take place outside whenever possible with proper social distancing whether inside or outside. When exercising at a distance, students can remove masks for safety purposes related to breathing.

As some scholars have chosen to attend remote only, teachers will simultaneously instruct scholars at home and in the classroom during in-person days. For this reason, the use of Zoom and Google Classroom are required for all scholars.

Instruction on remote days is live and dynamic. Teachers are actively interacting with students while they complete a lesson consisting of virtual activities during an assigned period. Teachers provide feedback in real-time and design/modify lessons accordingly. Attendance is granted only to active participants on Zoom.
