Shontay Coleman
Social Studies Teacher
Shontay Coleman is Atmosphere’s 10th Grade Social Studies Teacher. Ms.Coleman was born and raised in New York City and attended Howard University, where she majored in Criminal Justice. She started her teaching career in Washington, DC, and then attended American University, where she received her Master’s in Teaching. Ms.Coleman is a certified teacher with 22 years of experience. Before coming to Atmosphere, Ms.Coleman was an 8th and 6th-grade social studies teacher at TEP charter school for 6 years. She cultivated a classroom culture where her students felt accepted, respected, heard, and most of all loved. Ms.Coleman was also an instructional coach at KIPP Academy Elementary for 4 years, where her admiration of charter schools began. Ms.Coleman enjoys spending time with her 3 wonderful children and her yorkiepoo Brooklyn in her spare time.
