Leadership Team

  • Chief Learning Officer

    Elizabeth Kelly is Atmosphere’s Chief Learning Officer. Mrs. Kelly holds a Master of Science in Adolescent Special Education and Literacy from Iona College and a Bachelor of Arts in Adolescent Education and Social Studies. She is New York State certified as a special education teacher, a social studies teacher, a literacy teacher, and an adolescent education teacher. Previously, Mrs. Kelly taught at Iona College, Mamaroneck High School, Iona Preparatory School, and The School of Immaculate Conception.

  • Chief Culture Officer

    Christian Roman is Atmosphere’s Chief Culture Officer. Previously, he has served as the Head Dean at Health, Education, and Research Occupations (HERO) High School and Dean of Students at Banana Kelly High School in the South Bronx. In these roles, Mr. Roman worked to provide young people with the discipline, guidance, cultural enrichment, and social-emotional development they needed to realize their full potential. Mr. Roman has also served as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coordinator at Unitas Therapeutic Community, where he honed his counseling and management skills. Mr. Roman hired, trained, and maintained a staff of approximately 40 teen counselors and employees. He also facilitated seminars on 6-step conflict resolution that enforced the principle of peaceful problem solving. Mr. Roman holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from St. John’s University. Growing up in the South Bronx, Mr. Roman developed an undeniable passion for and pride in the people of his neighborhood. Mr. Roman has translated this passion into daily service and dedicated his studies and career to elevating, inspiring, counseling, and advocating for the community in which he still lives and works. Mr. Roman also serves his community through spiritual guidance by dedicating his free time to working as a religious instructor and assistant director of a youth group at St. Athanasius Parish. Each day, Mr. Roman works closer and closer to his goal of uniting and uplifting the people of the South Bronx.

  • Chief Academic Officer

    Katherine Brennan is Atmosphere's Chief Academic Officer. She has over 17 years of experience as a principal, central office administrator, K-12 supervisor, content specialist, mentor and classroom teacher. In addition to certifications as a supervisor, principal, and chief school administrator, Mrs. Brennan holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and is pursuing a PhD in education policy and administration.

  • Chief Operating Officer

    Gabriel Rosenblum is Atmosphere's Chief Operating Officer. Previously, he served as a Business Operations Manager at Success Academy Charter Schools, where he managed multiple schools and streamlined their operational processes, oversaw logistical systems for families and students, and maintained safety and security in the school buildings. Mr. Rosenblum is well versed in the field of Operations and brings his expertise to Atmosphere. He holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from Brandeis University.

  • Chief Program Officer

    Benjamin Pah is Atmosphere's Chief Program Officer. Previously, he has worked as a Vice Principal at Coney Island Prep and English teacher at Bronx High School for Law and Community Service. As a Vice Principal, he coached teachers, guided students, and partnered with families. As a teacher, he taught literacy, raised test scores, and facilitated career training. Benjamin holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from NYU. He is New York State Certified as a School Building leader and English teacher. Overall, Ben's vision is to guide students to work as hard as possible to achieve the careers of their dreams to uplift their families and communities.

  • Science Instructional Leader

    Ericka Shammgod is Atmosphere’s Science Instructional Leader. Mrs. Shammgod holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from CUNY, a Master of Science in Teaching Literacy from Touro College, and a Master of Science in School Leadership from Touro College. She is New York State certified as an elementary education teacher and as a school building leader. Previously, Ms. Shammgod taught at Harlem Children’s Zone Promise Academy and in the NYCDOE.

  • Chief Executive Officer/Founder

    Colin Greene is Atmosphere’s Chief Executive Officer and Founder. He created Atmosphere Academy Public Charter Schools in 2014. Previously, he served as a Lead Technology Consultant in the Byram Hills School District as well as the Head of Academic Program at Link Community School in Newark. In the latter role, he oversaw curriculum design, instructional leadership, data systems, professional development, teacher evaluation, and all other academic operations of the school. Prior to joining Link, Mr. Greene was Director of Curriculum and Instruction with Sponsors for Educational Opportunity where he developed original programming and curriculum, hired qualified instructors, and managed successful implementation and quality control. He spent the early part of his career as an English Teacher in various public and private high schools in New York and New Jersey. Mr. Greene holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Fordham University, a Master of Arts in Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. He is New York State certified as a school district leader, a school building leader, and an English teacher.

  • English Instructional Leader

    Andrew Raia is Atmosphere's English Instructional Leader. He has a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Curriclum and Instruction from Boston College and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. Mr. Raia has over fourteen years of experience in the field of education. Previously, he was Community Service Coordinator and Ninth Grade Team Leader at Great Futures Charter School in Jersey City, New Jersey. He has also served as a Language Arts Coordinator and a Principal.

  • Achievement Director

    Lena Litvak is Atmosphere's Achievement Director. Previously, Ms. Litvak has served as Atmosphere's Math Achievement Leader Teacher, Achievement Coordinator, and Achievement Teacher. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Assistant Teacher at a school for students with learning disabilities as well as a 7th Grade Math Assistant Teacher at a charter school in Harlem. Additionally, she competed on the women's tennis professional tour for more than four years. Through her work as an Achievement Leader, Ms. Litvak helps scholars develop data-driven goals and tools to be able to better display their content knowledge on standardized tests. She also develops achievement curriculum and systems with the CEO and others to help ameliorate student deficits schoolwide and build lifelong skills that will allow all Atmosphere scholars to succeed. Ms. Litvak holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Harvard University and received her certification as Teacher of Middle School Mathematics from Harvard University in 2015.

  • Student Learning Manager

    Rosanna Pimentel is Atmosphere’s Student Learning Manager. She manages and oversees Teaching Assistants across all grade levels. Ms. Pimentel previously served as Atmosphere's 6th grade Teaching Assistant where she supported various content area classes per day via a co-teaching model. Ms. Pimentel holds Bachelor of Arts in Child Psychology from CUNY and a Master of Science in Special Education. Previously, Ms. Pimentel has served as a Head Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Substitute Teacher at various schools in the Bronx.

  • Social Studies Instructional Leader

    Collin L. Thompson is Atmosphere's Social Studies Instructional Leader. Mr. Thompson was born and raised in East Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Mr. Thompson moved to Tanzania, East Africa, where he co-founded an empowerment project to support women living with HIV/AIDS in the greater-Arusha, Tanzania community. In 2016, Mr. Thompson returned to the United States and began his career in education at a public middle school in East San Jose, California. Later, Mr. Thompson joined the Founding Team of Emblaze Academy as the Founding History Department Chairman and Founding History Teacher. Eventually, Mr. Thompson established the role of Founding Dean of Community Engagement, Government Relations, and College Preparatory Instruction at Emblaze Academy, creating Emblaze Academy's first honors course while in that role. In addition to his work in the education and non-profit sectors, Mr. Thompson has also served as the Campaign Manager for multiple, successful state legislative races in his home state of Tennessee. Mr. Thompson earned a Master's Degree in Education with a concentration in Digital Learning and Educational Technology from Johns Hopkins University. In his spare time, Mr. Thompson enjoys exploring the city with his Labrador, Springsteen, attending concerts and Yankee games, and international travel. Mr. Thompson is still heavily involved in the work he started in Tanzania and travels to East Africa as frequently as possible. Mr. Thompson hopes that his unique background in politics, nonprofits, and education will be an asset to Atmosphere Academy's amazing team.

  • Achievement Manager

    Rhodnisha Green is Atmosphere's Achievement Manager. Ms. Green holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science in Business from Full Sail University. Ms. Green is an Army Brat born in Germany and raised in Connecticut. She has 5 years of experience working in charter schools. Previously, Ms. Green taught at Amistad Middle Academy as an 8th Grade Composition Teacher and a 7th Grade Science Teacher. She also served as a Grade Level Chair Leader for 8th grade and created and revised curriculum for English units for the Achievement First network. Some other interests of Ms. Green's include finance, stocks, and TV & Film Production.

  • Math Instructional Leader

    Derrick Nesbitt is Atmosphere's Math Instructional Leader. Mr. Nesbitt holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics from Binghamton University, a Master of Science in Education from Brooklyn College, and is curently pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from St. John's University. Mr. Nesbitt was born and raised in Brooklyn and currently resides in Harlem. Mr. Nesbitt has a passion for math and leading adults and scholars. Prior to joining the Atmosphere team, Mr. Nesbitt served as an Assistant Principal at a Success Academy School, Leader Fellow at a Democracy Prep School, and a teacher and Grade Level Leader at an Achievement First school. He hopes to bring his love of learning, leading, and attention to detail to the Atmosphere!

  • Grade Leader

    Brett McGinnis is Atmosphere’s 8th Grade Leader. Mr. McGinnis graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Cornell University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education. He is currently pursuing a New York State School Building Leader Certificate at the College of Saint Rose. Previously, McGinnis served as a Lead Lesson Planner, Science Instructional Leader, Grade Level Leader, and 8th Grade Living Environment teacher at Kings Collegiate Charter School in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, a member of the Uncommon Schools network. Prior to that, Mr. McGinnis served as a Corps Member and then Team Leader with an Americorps program called City Year at a high school in Elmhurst, Queens. He is incredibly excited to bring his passion and dedication to the Atmosphere community.

  • Chloe Haggerty-Buckner is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Leader. Ms. Buckner is a Bronx native, now living in New Jersey. She has 10 years of experience in education, including 8 years of teaching ELA in NYC schools across the Bronx. She also sat as grade chair during that time. Ms. Buckner has a Bachelor's Degree in English and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling as of '22. Her other interests include music, travel abroad and cooking. Ms. Buckner is passionate about empowering students from all neighborhoods to take full ownership of their right to an equitable and well-rounded education with the support of caring adults.

  • Special Education Manager

    Christopher Diaz is Atmosphere's Special Education Manager. Mr. Diaz holds a Bachelor's Degree from Colgate University and a Master's Degree from Relay Graduate School of Education. As an alumni of a public charter school, he understands and supports the unique opportunity that Atmosphere provides. He is passionate about ensuring all students have access to quality education that suits their individual needs.

Operations Team

  • Operations Manager

    Joye Rice is Atmosphere's Operations Manager. Ms. Rice was born and raised in New York City. She is an advocate for school choice and supports educational equity. In previous roles, Ms. Rice was an Operations Manager at Harlem Village Academies and the Founding Family Impact Coordinator at Democracy Prep Public Schools. Ms. Rice earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from The College of New Rochelle and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership. She enjoys watching anime and Marvel movies with her teenaged son. She is excited to be part of the Atmosphere team!

  • Operations Manager

    Tenee Jones is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Operations Manager. For 10 years Tenee has pursued a career in charter school operations, working in schools in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the South Bronx. As a native Harlemnite she developed a passion for community and youth development. She earned her undergraduate degree from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also earned a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from The New School and an Master of Arts in Youth Ministry and M.Div from New York Theological Seminary to help her pour back into her community. She loves to watch movies and crochet in her spare time. She is excited to support the Atmosphere team!

  • Operations Associate

    Carolina Mota is Atmosphere's Operations Associate. Carolina is native of the Dominican Republic, but she has lived in The Bronx for most of her life after migrating to the U.S at the age of two. Ms. Mota has extensive experience in operations and administration. Most of Ms. Mota's administrative experience was in healthcare; however in 2020, after 13 years in healthcare, she decided to change her career path and begin a new path in education. She is very excited to be part of the Atmosphere family and is confident that her experience will be an asset to the team. She is looking forward to further developing her experince and knowledge in education, and very confident that Atmosphere is the perfect place to do so. Ms. Mota is looking forward to adding a little spark to our students' paths in an effort of enlightening their outlook on the greatness they can achieve in their near future.

    Chanell Paschall is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Operations Manager. Ms. Paschall has over 13 years of experience in education. She earned her Bachelor of Science at Boricua College, and is excited to bring her diverse knowledge to Atmosphere Academy.

  • Operations Associate

    Keisha Edwards is Atmosphere's 6th Grade School Aide. Ms. Edwards has her CDA in Early Childhood Education. She recently worked as a teacher's assistant at BeAbove Early Learning Center in the Bronx. Ms. Edwards Is excited to be on the Atmosphere Team and can't wait to see what the future holds!

  • Operations Manager

    Catherine Toussaint is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Operations Manager. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Mercy College with a concentration in Business Administration. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Business Administration. Ms. Toussaint is well versed in various aspects of the Charter School community, and she is very excited and happy to bring her seven years of experience to Atmosphere Academy.

  • Operations Assistant

    Wilmer Leon is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Operations Assistant. Previously, he was a security guard, custodial associate and School Aide for Atmosphere. Mr. Leon has extensive background and training in the U.S. Military.

    Elizabeth Adewuyi is Atmosphere's 8th Grade School Nurse.

School Culture Team

  • Middle School Program Associate

    Clarence E. McCall is Atmosphere's Middle School Program Associate. His responsibilities include organizing and attending awards trips and STARS and WARRIORS gear giveaways. Mr. McCall is proud to have served Atmosphere Academy in a number of roles, including as a School Aide, which at times involved watching the front desk, covering classes when teachers were absent, helping with dismissal and teaching a film elective. In his role as Program Assistant, Mr. McCall has provided b-role for Atmosphere videos and edited a graduation video for the 2020 graduation class. Mr. McCall has participated in video shoots and did the voice over for Atmosphere Micro videos. Mr. McCall has also edited the yearbook for the 2020 class. After growing up on the streets of Harlem, Mr. McCall enrolled at Bard College, where he studied Cinema and Political Science.

  • School Counselor

    Darryl Jenkins is Atmosphere's School Counselor. Previously, he worked with The Family Welcome Center at the NYC Department of Education. As an Enrollment Counselor, he assisted families in enrollment processes for grades K-12. He also served as an Academic Advisor for the Young Adult Borough Center at Herbert Lehman High School, where he counseled over-aged and under-credited students. He received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of School Counseling from Mercy College. He has a strong commitment to working with a diverse population of students.

  • Culture Aide

    Ivory Rivera is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Culture Aide. She is currently enrolled at Berkeley College and is working towards her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

  • Culture Associate

    Kimberly Liriano is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Culture Associate. Ms. Liriano holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Monroe College. She previously has worked with adolescents in the capacity of providing social-emotional outlets through evidence-based practices. Ms. Liriano's ultimate goal is to continue strengthening interdisciplinary collaborations and provide an environment where students are able to be successful in all aspects of their Academic and Social career.

  • Programs Assistant

    Lawrence Perdomo is Atmosphere's Programs Assistant. Mr. Perdomo graduated from the SUNY Albany where he majored in Psychology and minored in Business and Theatre. Born and raised in New York; Mr. Perdomo spent a lot of his youth participating in Clubs, Sports Teams, and Academic Programs. In turn, this nurtured a hunger for independent and team success along with looking for constant ways to improve and maximize efficiency wherever was needed. Throughout his academic career, he’d go on to take positions and roles particularly in Education, where he’d sharpen his skills and continue to look for ways to grow. The search would eventually bring him to Atmosphere Academy where he aspires to leave a huge and everlasting impact in every way possible.

  • Culture Associate

    Lenne Reyes is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Culture Associate. Ms. Reyes graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and English. Ms. Reyes is the Head Coach of the girl’s volleyball, basketball and softball teams. She is also an Apprentice Dean, and her goal is to make sure our scholars are focused on their academics by supporting them socially, emotionally and academically.

  • Social Worker

    Maider Solores is Atmosphere's 6th Grade School Social Worker. Ms. Solores obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from Deusto University. She has eight years of experience working with children and adolescents in the school education system. Working with scholars and their families on a daily basis to help them reach their full potential is her main priority. Ms. Solores uses different approaches with scholars based on their needs to offer the best services, and support them academically, social-emotionally, and behaviorally. Ms. Solores is thrilled to be part of the Atmosphere team and work within the community.

  • School Counselor

    Michael Roach is Atmosphere's 7th Grade School Counselor. Mr. Roach earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Manhattan College, which is located in the surrounding neighborhood of Riverdale/Kingsbridge. Previously employed by the NYC Department of Education, Mr. Roach has gained experience and specialization while working with Special Education and ELL students around the Bronx. Invested in his craft, Mr. Roach believes that advocacy and support are essential to student growth, development and success.

  • Culture Associate

    Reginald Jay is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Culture Associate. Previously, Mr. Jay served as the 8th Grade Dean of Discipline/Culture at Equality Charter School in the Bronx. Mr. Jay is a dedicated and motivated educator. His goal is to help all children, especially those from the Bronx community, recognize their full potential while supporting them in achieving their academic and behavioral goals.

Instructional Team

  • Science Teacher

    Alesha Minott is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Science Teacher. Ms. Minott has a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta Georgia. Her love for education started when she was in college. She was a STEM tutor for a program called HBCU rising. The goal of the program was to raise test scores of children in low income communities and be a postive light/mentor for these children. During her experience as a tutor she saw the classroom and teachers in another light. She saw teaching as something she could add value to and become apart of. She taught biology at Excellence Boys Charter in Brooklyn, NY for a few years. Teaching at that school allowed her to not only spread knowledge but build unbreakable bonds with students, families and coworkers. She wants to continue being this light unto the path of students and others.

  • Health Teacher

    Alexis Nunez is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Health Teacher. Mr. Nunez graduated from Misericordia University, where he obtained a Master of Science. He has five years of experience working in the education system. In addition, Mr. Nunez works with a non-profit organization that provides unique opportunities through sports for kids of the Westchester community.

  • School Aide

    Amani Owusu is Atmosphere's 7th Grade School Aide. Ms. Owusu earned her Bachelor's Degree in History from Pace University. She has been working as an educator for the past eight years and is excited to join the Atmosphere team.

  • Health Teacher

    Ariel Sanchez is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Health Teacher. Mr. Sanchez is currently enrolled at York College, working towards his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.

  • Physical Education Teacher

    Charles Kosek Jr. is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Physical Education Teacher. Mr. Kosek earned his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from CUNY Brooklyn College and his Master of Education in General and Special Education for Grades 1-6 from Touro College. Mr. Kosek holds three teaching certifications in physical education, special education, and general education, and has six years of experience teaching physical education.

  • English Teacher

    Chris DiGiacomo-Singh is Atmosphere's 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher. Mr. Singh earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Queens College. While studying as an undergraduate, he was a staff writer for the school newspaper. Currently, he is in the process of finishing up his master's thesis at Queens College. He has taught in both public and private schools and now looks forward to working with the young scholars at Atmosphere Academy. His passions include photography, travel, food, grammar, and science fiction.

    Danielle Meyers is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Special Education Teacher. Mrs. Meyers has 23 years of K-8 teaching experience in Special and General Education, with a concentration in literacy and instructional skills to help facilitate student learning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and three Master's Degrees in Special and General Education, as well as in Leadership. She is currently pursuing a Ph.Ed in Organizational Leadership in Special Education.

  • Math Teacher

    Darlene Bryant is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Math teacher. Mrs. Bryant was born and raised in North Carolina, which explains the deep southern accent. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from Campbell University. She first began a career in Social Work where she worked with single mothers and then later in Adult Protective Services. During a volunteer experience, Mrs. Bryant fell in love with teaching and has been doing just that for the last 14 years in the Public School systems. Mrs. Bryant is married with 5 beautiful children and is very excited to become apart of the Atmosphere family.

  • Teaching Assistant

    Desirea Ribot is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Teaching Assistant. Ms. Ribot has worked in the education system for 12 years in various roles. She looks forward to fostering growth and development in our students.

  • Achievement Assistant

    Diana Alverio is Atmosphere's 6th Grade English Achievement Assistant. Mrs. Alverio was raised in Los Angeles, California. She has been supporting students for 11 years. She has taught and tutored in New York and Florida public schools, She is happy to be working at Atmosphere and is looking forward to continuing improving her skills in the field of education. She is happy to bring her love for education and dedication to Atmosphere's students.

  • Diosmairy Polonia is Atmosphere's 7th Grade School Aide. Ms. Polonia earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education at Medgar Evers College and is currenly in her last semester of her Bachelor's Degree in Middle and High School Education at Lehman College. She has been working as a teaching assistant for the past four years and is currenly in the process of obtaining her teaching certification in New York City. She is so exited to join the Atmosphere family.

  • Math Teacher

    Elcilia Taveras is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Math Teacher. Elcilia’s teaching career began in 2008, when she started teaching 4th grade for three years. She then transitioned to middle school, fell in love with the age group and has not changed ever since. She is a New York State certified teacher. Elcilia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Childhood Math Education from SUNY New Paltz. She also earned a Master of Science in Secondary Math Education from CUNY Lehman College. When Elcilia is not teaching she enjoys spending time with her three nieces who live in Upstate New York.

  • Science Teacher

    Flavia Smart is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Earth Science Teacher. Ms. Smart has 10 years of teaching experience with undergraduate education in science and holds two master's degrees; one in Adolecent Education and one in Curriculum Design. Ms. Smart has roots in the West Indies, being born in Barbados and having family steming from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Ms. Smart loves teaching science, watching anime and binge watching a good show. She looks forward to teaching, growing and building community all Atmosphere scholars and families.

  • Per Diem School Aide

    Florence Otho is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Per Diem School Aide. She supports teachers and the administration in various duties throughout all grade levels. Previously, she worked at CUNY's Bronx Educational Opportunity Center as an ATTAIN Lab Manager, teaching and proctoring Microsoft Certification programs as well as teaching job readiness skills. She also served as Dean of Students at several New York City Department of Education high schools. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts/Communications from the College of New Rochelle. Ms. Otho is committed to serving New York City and the Bronx community.

  • Math Teacher

    Harry Mandel is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Math Teacher. Mr. Mandel earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with minors in Economics and Psychology. He also has a Master of Business Administration from Pace University in Marketing with a concentration in market research survey analysis. He had a long career that combined Information Technology and Market Research for a company that helped animal welfare and education charities build their outreach and donation base before changing careers into teaching math. Mr. Mandel has worked at many public schools in Fairfield County, CT; most recently Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk, and now looks forward to helping Atmosphere Academy's scholars learn and grow. His hobbies include puzzles, travel, hiking, bowling, geography, meteorology, geocaching and watching the Yankees win!

  • American Studies I Teacher

    Henry Gonzalez is Atmosphere's 7th Grade American Studies I Teacher. He is a graduate of Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and History. He received a Masters in Instructional Technology from the New York Institute of Technology. Mr. Gonzalez has more than 10 years experience in the charter world and has sent his two children to charter schools in Queens. Previously Mr. Gonzalez coached Social Studies teachers at New Visions School for the Humanities at the JFK campus and taught at Bronx Lighthouse Charter School.

    Imani Bruno is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Math Achievement Teacher. Mr. Bruno grew up in the North Bronx. He later moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He has been privately tutoring math since 2008. Mr. Bruno is thoroughly excited to cultivate the minds of the future leaders that he knows every Atmosphere student has the potential to be!

    Indiana Aleman is Atmosphere's 7th Grade English Achievement Teacher. Ms. Aleman was raised in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from Hunter College, and a Television News Production Certificate from New York University. Ms. Aleman received a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Barry University, and an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Certificate in Language & Literature from the Center for the Advancement and Study of International Education in Atlanta. With 17 years of teaching experience, Ms. Aleman has taught many subjects under the English domain at the middle school, high school, and college levels. She believes all students are capable of achieving academic success, and is grateful and excited to be a part of the Atmosphere community.

    Jayeanne Pacor is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Achievement Teacher. Mrs. Pacor earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master degrees in Education from Saint John's University. Mrs. Pacor has been a New York State Cetified Teacher for 20 years in both private and independent schools. Mrs. Pacor has taught several grade levels during her career, but truly enjoys teaching 6th grade. She is looking forward to working with the Atmosphere school community.

Mrs. Baker-DeCambre has been teaching math for over 20 years, both at the High School and Middle School level. She's Certified in New York State and Florida. Mrs. Baker-DeCambre enjoys motivating and aspiring her scholars to succeed.

    Jeremy Agyemang is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Achievement Associate. He is currently a student at Fordham University and is working toward his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. He has worked with young people for almost 10 years and got his start as a Maker/STEM Teaching Artist. Mr. Agyemang is looking forward to making sure that all of the scholars that he interacts with achieve all of their goals.

    Jose Rodriguez is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Earth Science Teacher. Mr. Rodriguez has worked on degrees in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Natural Resource Management and Conservation, and Human Services at Rutgers University and Touro College. Mr. Rodriguez has worked as a Wildlife Educator, Small Animal Care Specialist, Entomology Lab Assistant, and Facilitator of After School Programming for the Youth Services System in New Jersey.

    Kasheef Scott is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Health Teacher. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications & Psychology from the University of Bridgeport. He has five years of experience working with children from middle school through high school. Mr. Scott's main goal is to help educate and lead scholars to a bright future through knowledge. His last experience working with academic scholars was at Fordham University where he tutored 7th-12th graders in subjects such as science, math, and writing. Mr. Scott is grateful to be part of the Atmosphere team and will do his best in continuing to support the school's success.

    Katherine Kachnowski is Atmosphere's 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher. Ms. Kachnowski earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio State, where she majored in Language Arts Education and English. A New York state certified teacher, she is currently pursing a Master of Arts in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Previously, Ms. Kachnowski worked at Bronx River High School through the non-profit Blue Engine.

    Katie Lennon is Atmosphere's 7th Grade ELL Teacher. Ms. Lennon holds an M.S.Ed degree in TESOL K-12 from SUNY New Paltz. Ms. Lennon gained two years of teaching experience in the states of Colorado and Indiana, before moving back to her home state of NY. She specializes in English Language Education and strives to ensure that our ELL and immigrant populations at Atmosphere are successful and provided with the tools they need to achieve excellence.

    Katie Weinstein is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Special Education Teacher. She supports students with IEPs in various classroom settings. Ms. Weinstein holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Behavioral Science from Marist College. She is New York State certified as a teacher and a special education teacher. Previously, she student taught in Marlboro, New York and Hyde Park, New York.

    Kevin Salazar is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Physical Education Teacher. Mr. Salazar holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Manhattan College. He is also attending Manhattanville College to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Sports Management.

    Keyana Fraser is Atmosphere's 6th Grade School Aide. Ms. Fraser graduated from Bronx Community College with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. She later attended School of Professional Studies where she received her CDA. Ms. Fraser started working in an Early Childhood Program as a teacher assistant and worked her way up to become a lead teacher in a Pre-K classroom. She is currently attending City College in hopes to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

    Kyle McCabe is Atmosphere's 7th Grade American Studies I Teacher. Mr. McCabe has a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the State University at New Paltz and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. Mr. McCabe started his career in 2008 at the Williamsburg Charter School in Brooklyn, N.Y. He has since taught at schools in the Bronx and New Rochelle. Mr. McCabe is married with two daughters. His passions outside the classroom are music and snowboarding. He has played drums in various bands in N.Y. and and L.A. In addition he has been a snowboard instructor and traveled to seven states and three countries to enjoy and experience various mountains.

    Lance Albritton is Atmopshere's 8th Grade Math Teacher. He is thrilled to be part of the Atmosphere Academy Public Charter School community. Before joining Atmosphere, Mr. Albritton taught for Palm Beach County Schools (FL) for three years as an 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher. Before going into teaching, Mr. Albritton served as a Behavior Specialist for many years where he worked with emotionally and behaviorly challenged students. Mr. Albritton currently holds a Bachelor of Science from Greensboro College (NC). He also serves as the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach here at Atmosphere. Mr. Albritton has a true passion for working with the youth. He strives to create a community of young learners that will nurture their growth in a positive way. Mr. Albritton enjoys spending time with family & friends, traveling, cooking and attending different sporting events.

    Lona Nguyen is a new addition to Atmosphere Academy as an English Achievement Teacher. She has recently moved from Orlando, Florida to live in New York City to pursue her master's degree in Education Policy and Social Analysis from Columbia University. Lona received her Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature from the University of Central Florida and taught high school English for four years in Orlando.

    Loretta Clemente is Atmosphere's 8th Grade English Achievement Teacher. Ms. Clemente has two Master’s Degrees; one Master of Science in School Counseling and Mental Health, and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESOL. Ms. Clemente is certified in School Counseling (SCO), as well as in ESOL, K-12. Ms. Clemente has 14 years of experience in education, teaching both K-12 and training and supervising new teachers for the Teaching Fellows Program in NYC. She is also a current faculty member at Hofstra University teaching summer classes and performing research. Ms. Clemente specializes in SEL, and is very passionate about ensuring all students feel valued and safe in the classroom, as well as advancing educational equity to empower our young people.

    Marleny Ramirez is Atmosphere's 6th Grade School Aide. Ms. Ramirez has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and Political Science. She graduated from SUNY Oneonta, where she worked for the Office of New Student Services and the Office of Equity and Inclusion, where her obectives aligned with making the environment on campus inclsuive and comfortable for all students regardless of background and identity. Ms. Ramirez enjoys traveling, so much so that she took her work abroad. She spent several months working for a news station in Costa Rica. Afterwards she shifted careers and accepted a teaching opportunity in the Dominican Republic, teaching English to new English learners. She is currently getting her Master's in School Counseling at Hunter College, and genuinely enjoys working closely with students.

    Mary Villacis is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Special Education Teacher for Social Studies and Science. She has been teaching for eight years and is excited to have joined Atmosphere Academy. She holds a Master's in Childhood Education Tri Certification and Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Villacis believes in inspiring the leaders of tomorrow to never give up, even when faced with challenges that seem impossible to overcome.

    Matthew Walker is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Teaching Assistant. He has earned his Associate of Science in Business Administration and is currently pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Education at the State University of New York Cobleskill. He is a certified New York State Paraprofessional for General Education and Special Education Specialist. Mr. Walker has been working in the education system for 6 years. After working at various middle schools, he learned methods to incorporate learning tools like math games and poetry, and has created practical ways for students to study and review material.

She has a Master of Science in Teaching from Fordham University and a Master of Communication and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairfield University.

    Meghan Dunne is Atmosphere’s 6th Grade Special Education Teacher. She supports students with IEPs in Math and English classes. Ms. Dunne holds a Master of Science in Childhood Education from Molloy College and a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education from Molloy College. She is New York State certified as a special education teacher. Previously, she taught in the West Islip School District and the North Merrick School District.

    Melissa Pagan is Atmosphere's Achievement Associate. Ms. Pagan is currently a student at Columbia University, majoring in Astrophysics and certifying in Education. She graduated from Riverdale Country School in 2017 and became an official Prep for Prep alumni in June 2017. As a member of Prep for Prep, Ms. Pagan's drive to help and give back led her to work at Prep for three years before joining Atmosphere Academy in October. At Prep for Prep, Ms. Pagan was an advisor for incoming students to help them adjust academically and socially to the rigorous expectations of the program.

    Michael Funaro is Atmosphere's 6th Grade English Achievement Teacher. Mr. Funaro recently earned his Master's Degree in Teaching Arts, as well as his Bachelor of Arts in English. He has worked as a teacher and tutor in the Bronx for two years. He is originally from Illinois where he did he earned his undergraduate degree and first taught.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Hartford with a focus in American History. He has had a passion for American History since the 8th grade. He then earned a Masters in Elementary and Literacy from Pace University. He is very excited about beginning the next part of his teaching career at Atmosphere and is looking forward to the new year. When he has down time, he enjoys reading, writing, relaxing, and spending time with his wife and twin daughters.

    Pamela Butler is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Science Teacher. Pamela Butler is an educator who has served for many years as a Science and Math Teacher including the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics and Environmental Science. Also, she has taught and tutored Mathematics ranging in courses from Algebra to Calculus. She has designed and implemented Curriculum focused on STEAM and Common Core requirements. She has conducted Professional Development workshops specifically for the introduction of Technology into the classroom. Ms. Butler attended Fordham University and received a degree in Natural Science with an emphasis on Biological and Physical Science. She then attended Fordham University Gabelli School of Business Administration to study Management Information Systems. She also attended the College at Saint Rose Graduate School of Education in Brooklyn. Pamela has developed demonstrative Test-taking methodologies and strategies that have proven effective in passing the NY State Regents Exams in Biology, Physics, Environmental Science, Algebra and Trigonometry. Ms. Butler has used the City of New York as a classroom by involving the Students in the plethora of programs sponsored by the various Museums, the NYC Parks Department and opportunities to participate that reflect the current Social and Academic trend. Ms. Butler is a teacher who is primarily concerned with imparting a life-long love of learning upon her students. She has accelerated in classrooms that were diverse both academically and socially. This has served to increase her understanding of the individual needs and learning styles of each student in order to implement rigorous strategies aimed at success.     Phillippa Elizabeth Alexander is Atmosphere's 6th Grade Science Teacher. Mrs. Alexander is a passionate and dedicated life-long educator. Mrs. Alexander became an educator in the New York public school system in 2003 during her induction into the New York City Teaching Fellows Program Cohort#6. Mrs. Alexander's passions are learning new languages and discovering multicultural connections and bridges which interconnect us, one to another. Mrs. Alexander enjoys learning and speaking Japanese, French, Spanish, and Wolf (French-West African Dialect.) Mrs. Alexander's greatest accomplishments are her two amazing daughters, Danielle and Imani, whom she loves and adores. Mrs. Alexander earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Mercy College. Mrs. Alexander also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

    Precious Wilson is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Special Education Teacher. Ms. Wilson attended John Jay College for her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. Then, she went to Metropolitan College of New York where she received her Master’s in Childhood Education. She also pursued her degree in Students with Disabilities from Mercy College. She’s been teaching for 15 years in both collaborative teaching and general education environments. Precious is a proponent of rigorous progressive education and data driven instruction that connects to the learner’s own interest and experiences. In her free time Precious enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.

    Raquel Sommerville is Atmosphere's 7th Grade English Teacher. She teaches 5 sections of Critical Reading and Critical Writing. Ms. Sommerville holds both a Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary English Education) and a Bachelor of Arts in English from SUNY New Paltz. She is New York State certified as an English teacher. Previously,  Ms. Sommerville was an English Teacher and a Department Chair at VOICE Charter School.

    Ravyn Gilbert is Atmosphere's 8th Grade American Studies II Teacher. Ms. Gilbert holds a Bachelor's Degree in Adolescent Education with a concentration in Social Studies and has a Master of Science in Teaching Students with Disabilities. Previously, she worked as Pre-Kindergarten teacher as Brightside Academy in the Bronx. Ms. Gilbert is excited and motivated in providing an interactive social studies experience with her students and seeks to grow and learn along with them.

    Ross Grunwald is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Special Education Teacher. Mr. Grunwald graduated from Five Towns College with a bachelor's in Business Management and Audio Engineering. Mr. Grunwald continued his education and received a Masters's in Elementary education. Mr. Grunwald has a certification in general education and special education. Prior to teaching 7th grade, he was Atmosphere's 6th-grade special education teacher for both Math and Science.

    Sarah Hendry is Atmosphere's English Language Learner Specialist. She has her Bachelor of Science in Childhood and Special Education and concentration in Mathematics from the College of Saint Rose. She has a Master's degree from Syracuse University in Teaching English Language Learners. Previously, Ms. Hendry has served as an ESL Teacher in the South Bronx and Special Education with a concentration in Mathematics Teacher in Brooklyn.

    Scott Friebel is Atmosphere’s 6th Grade Physical Education and Health Teacher. Mr. Friebel holds a Master of Science in Physical Education from Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Education at SUNY The College at Brockport. Mr. Friebel is a New York State AHPERD member where he presents physical education activities at local and state-level conferences. Previously he worked part-time as an Athletic Administrator for a Long Island-based youth sports company and also coached youth volleyball, lacrosse, and hockey while working towards his degrees.

  • Shauna Brown-Shields is Atmosphere's 7th Grade Math Teacher. Ms. Shields is a certified math teacher for grades 7-12 and has been teaching for the past 7 years. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a Master's degree in Math Education and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics (cum laude) from York College of the City University of New York. Prior to teaching, she worked as a Writing Consultant for eight years at York College. She has taught Algebra, Trigonometry & Pre-Calculus at the high school level for five years and has taught two years of middle school Math. Ms. Shields is a native of Jamaica, West Indies and loves to sing, travel, read and bake.

She has earned her Master's in Childhood General Education and Special Education Grades 1-6 from Pace University and is dual certified with New York State. Mrs. Constantine previously worked at P.S. 233 The Langston Hughes School and Columbus Avenue Preschool to gain 5 years of experience. She enjoys working with students with disabilities to give them the chance to show the world that they are capable of achieving great success with the right assistance. Her hobbies are dancing, reading, cooking, running, and traveling.

    Teresa Rountree is Atmosphere's 8th Grade Science Teacher. Ms. Rountree was raised in a low-income community in New York. Many years of her professional career were dedicated to working in nonprofit organizations. She spent 7 years supporting families in the community she grew up in as an Afterschool Program Director. She has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Zoology and a Master’s Degree in Adolescent Science Education. Additionally, she has 9 years of experience teaching in Bronx middle schools. Her love for teaching science is partially credited to her 7th and 9th grade science teachers. They cultivated her love for science in the way she hopes to do for her students.

He has been an educator for 24 years, spending 19 of those years in the classroom, 2 years as a dean, and 3 years as an assistant principal. Mr. Hanley earned a Bachelor of Arts from Herbert H. Lehman College (CUNY) and an Master of Arts from State University of New York at Albany.
