English Language Learners Program

Atmosphere Academy English Language Learners Program (ELL) supports students learning English through strategic lesson planning and fidelity to the service metrics as outlined by NYS. We employ an English Language Learner Specialist whose primary role is to serve students based on their language acquisition level as dictated by New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT) results.

In addition to this, the ELL Specialist co-plans during department and grade level meetings in order to contribute to lesson planning on a larger scale. The ELL Specialist, along with the support of outside vendors, provides professional development throughout the year on how to utilize SIOP-aligned strategies (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol).
