At Atmosphere Academy, we are proud to support a diverse community of learners. Our ELL program is designed to support students whose primary language is not English, helping them develop strong English language skills while thriving academically and socially. Through individualized instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and targeted language development, ELL students receive the support they need to fully engage in all aspects of school life. We provide personalized language support through co-teaching in core content classes and targeted small group instruction. The ELL program emphasizes speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while also fostering confidence and academic achievement. Our inclusive approach ensures that ELL students receive the support they need while remaining fully integrated into the school community. We celebrate the unique cultural and linguistic backgrounds of our students and empower them to thrive as confident, capable learners.

A collaborative approach to learning: General Education, Special Education, and ENL teachers work together in a co-taught classroom, providing tailored support to all students, including ELL scholars, allowing them to access the English curriculum while building critical language skills.

At Atmosphere Academy, we are dedicated to supporting our diverse community of middle school learners, including those who are new to the country and speak little to no English. Our English Language Learner (ELL) program is designed to help students successfully navigate the more challenging middle school curriculum, building the foundational language skills they will need to thrive both academically and socially. As students transition from elementary school, the academic expectations in middle school become more complex, and our program is tailored to meet these demands. For students who are newcomers to the U.S. or have limited English proficiency, we offer a supportive and structured environment where language development is a primary focus. Our ELL program emphasizes key skills in reading, writing, and listening—critical areas that will lay the groundwork for their success on the NYSESLAT (New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test) and prepare them for the more rigorous high school curriculum. Through a combination of co-teaching in core subjects and small-group targeted instruction, our teachers provide personalized, culturally responsive support to help each student develop English language skills while simultaneously learning grade-level content. This approach ensures that students don’t just acquire language skills, but also gain the academic knowledge and strategies they need to be successful in all subject areas, from math and science to history and English Language Arts. In addition to language proficiency, our program emphasizes critical thinking, academic writing, and listening comprehension—skills essential for high school success. As students work toward mastering the NYSESLAT, we focus on helping them develop the literacy skills they will need to navigate high school coursework and beyond. Our ultimate goal is to equip students with the confidence and academic foundation necessary for success in high school, college, and their future careers. At Atmosphere Academy, we celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of our students and are committed to providing the support they need to succeed. Through individualized attention and an inclusive, engaging learning environment, we empower our ELL students to become confident, capable learners who are ready to meet the challenges of middle school and beyond.

Achievement consists of practice both independently but also in collaboration.

Students consistently are provided with their data and progress throughout the year in order to allow them to set goals and analyze areas of success and necessary growth.

Achievement and growth are celebrated throughout the year to reward and motivate the students' accomplishments

Students participate in a NYS Test Pep Rally to create opportunity for positive energy, peer encouragement, and excitement toward testing.

At Atmosphere Academy, we are committed to providing a dynamic, supportive environment for a diverse community of learners. Our English Language Learner (ELL) program is designed to address the unique needs of students whose primary language is not English, equipping them with the advanced language skills required to succeed in both their academic and future career pursuits. In high school, where the rigor of coursework increases, we place a strong emphasis on developing high-level proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Our ELL program integrates language development with the demanding curriculum required for success in the Regents exams. Through individualized instruction and co-teaching in core content areas, students receive personalized attention, helping them not only acquire language fluency but also the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary for academic achievement. Targeted small-group instruction ensures that students receive tailored support that meets their specific language needs, while our culturally responsive teaching practices create an inclusive, engaging learning environment. This dual focus on language acquisition and content mastery enables our ELL students to excel across disciplines, from math and science to history and English Language Arts, all while building the literacy skills they will need for college-level coursework and professional environments. As students progress through high school, we work to develop their confidence, autonomy, and academic capabilities, ensuring they are fully prepared for the Regents exams, college applications, and ultimately, their chosen careers. Our inclusive approach guarantees that ELL students are not only supported in their language journey but also integrated seamlessly into the broader school community. We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of our students and empower them to become confident, capable learners—ready to thrive academically, socially, and professionally.

Focused support for success: An experienced ELL teacher leads targeted intervention to help students build the language skills needed to excel on the NYSESLAT and thrive in high school.
