At Atmosphere, we offer World Language courses in the following languages: Spanish, French, and Mandarin. All language classes offer a mix of instruction in language acquisition and use alongside cultural awareness raising and appreciation. Students will be given opportunities to prepare for the LOTE (Language Other Than English) exam in their junior year, a test that contributes to the acquisition of the Advanced Regents diploma upon graduation. In class, students will learn through a mixture of traditional language instruction, comprehensible input, and exposure to music and artistic traditions from the national homes of each target language. Atmosphere World Language courses empower our students to learn the valuable skill of bilingualism (or trilingualism) and to broaden their global perspective.

World Language students at Atmosphere receive differentiated instruction and feedback from their teacher commensurate with their background in the language.

World Language classes do more than just help students learn to speak and write in a new language, they also offer cultural education and the opportunity to engage in art, music, and other creative projects from their target language diaspora.

World Language classes offer students a welcoming environment within which to broaden their academic and global horizons.

World Language students have opportunities to attend Rewards trips with their peers to cultural institutions in New York City where they can practice their language skills in the real world.
