Through a dynamic blend of research, career fairs, guest speakers, and on-site and off-site visits, scholars will engage with leading companies and participate in internships providing invaluable hands-on experiences. Freshman Year: Scholars will explore the five career pathways we offer, gaining a clear understanding of the requirements and opportunities within each. The course focuses on professional and personal development, college and career preparedness, and self-discovery, guiding students to uncover their unique strengths, interests, and potential career directions. By the end of the course, scholars will be equipped to make an informed decision about which career path they wish to pursue in greater depth.
Sophomore Year: Expanding upon their chosen career pathway, scholars will deepen their knowledge and gain valuable insights into specialized areas within their field of interest. At the conclusion of this course, scholars will have a comprehensive understanding of the key requirements and competencies needed to succeed in their careers.
Junior and Senior Year: Scholars will participate in internships aligned with their career aspirations, offering a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience. These internships immerse scholars in real-world professional environments and provide valuable opportunities to network with industry leaders and forge meaningful connections with Fortune 500 businesses and organizations.
Our Middle School Career Exploration program provides students in grades 6-7 with a unique opportunity to explore a variety of career paths. By using these formative years to discover and refine their interests, students build a solid foundation for becoming career-ready and college-prepared. Scholars will have opportunities to explore careers across a wide range of fields and disciplines, gaining insight into the skills and education required to pursue their future career paths. Lessons and activities emphasize active learning, incorporating methods like role-playing, small group discussions, and scenario analysis.
The lessons are carefully designed to strengthen key career-readiness skills, including critical thinking, behavior analysis, conflict resolution,problem-solving, professionalism, and effective communication skills.
Our 8th-grade Career Exploration course is designed to help students explore a variety of career paths and develop a better understanding of their personal strengths, interests, and skills. Through hands-on activities, projects, and research, students will investigate various professions including those in STEM, Arts, Health Sciences, Business, and Public service.
The course will also introduce students to the basics of career planning, goal setting, and decision-making. Students will create personalized career portfolios, explore high school course pathways that align with their career interests, and understand the importance of lifelong learning. Emphasis will be placed on fostering critical thinking, communication, and teamwork preparing students to make informed choices about their future academic and career pursuits.
