Atmosphere Academy supports students and families with the High School Application process. The School counselor reviews the process with all students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Multiple parent conferences are held throughout the process to ensure students are placed and accepted to their best-qualified school. Many of the conversations are driven by matching student preference with parent vision.
Scholars are accepted to a variety of schools such as specialized, CTE, public, charter, parochial, private and out of state/country. The high school outcomes from Atmosphere Academy scholars are strong. Some high schools include:
Since 2018, each graduating class has had at least one student accepted to a specialized high school. This is extremely significant in that each year, 28,000 NYC students apply to the Specialized High Schools (9 highly selective public high schools throughout the city), and only 5,000 are admitted. Of those 5,000 accepted students, only 300 are Latino. For the third year in a row, at least one Atmosphere 8th grade student has earned one of those 300 offers. In the 2020 school year, two scholars have been accepted to a Specialized High School.
