Rakim Jenkins

Social Studies Teacher

Rakim Jenkins, a 10th Grade Social Studies teacher at Atmosphere, is dedicated to deepening students’ understanding of history and culture. He graduated from The Colin Powell School at CCNY with a double major in Sociology and Black Studies, where his passion for history was ignited by studying African peoples’ history before slavery. He emphasizes restorative justice and project-based learning in his teaching and holds a Master’s in Teaching from Relay GSE. Recently, Rakim earned a Fulbright Scholarship to develop curriculum in Ghana and mentors students in global citizenship through I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D.
