Michael Filoramo
English Teacher
Michael Filoramo is Atmosphere Academy’s 9th Grade English Teacher, bringing nine years of experience teaching English Language Arts to students in grades 6–12. He earned his BA in English Literature from Queens College and his MA in English Education from SUNY Old Westbury. In addition to his classroom teaching, Mr. Filoramo has worked with the NYC Teaching Fellows as a Collaborative Coach and has led a variety of after-school programs through New York Edge, teaching courses in Photoshop, Software Development, Electronics Prototyping, Improvisational Acting and Sculpting.
Alongside his work in education, Mr. Filoramo is passionate about software development and has worked as a software engineer as well as taught full stack software development at Columbia University. He believes that strong literacy skills, alongside technological fluency, empower students to think critically, communicate clearly and pursue lives filled with opportunity, purpose and passion. Above all, he strives to build a classroom community where students feel supported, challenged and confident in their ability to shape their futures.
