Raihanata Barry

English Teacher

I am an 8th grade English Language Arts teacher based in New York. I grew up in New York and earned my degree from SUNY Albany. I bring a diverse background in education, with experience teaching English, History, Economics, and Mythology at the high school level (grades 9–12), as well as teaching elementary students in 3rd and 4th grade and Kindergarten. I also have a background in special education, which informs my commitment to differentiated instruction and meeting the needs of all learners.

I am dedicated to helping scholars develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills through engaging, student-centered instruction. My classroom emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and evidence-based writing, with a focus on making learning meaningful, accessible, and relevant to students’ lives.

I incorporate a variety of instructional strategies including discussion, performance analysis, and creative writing projects to support diverse learning styles and encourage student voice. I am especially passionate about helping students grow as writers through poetry, argument writing, and text analysis.
