Michael Sarpong

Special Education Teacher

Michael Yaw Sarpong is Atmosphere’s 11th Grade Special Education Teacher. Mr.Sarpong holds New York State certifications in Students with Disabilities Grades 7–12Generalist, from Hunter College, New York, NY which have prepared him to support diverse learners through individualized instruction, inclusive practices, and collaborative problem-solving. Mr. Sarpong is a Ghanaian by birth and has his family living in the Krachi West Municipality in the Oti Region of Ghana. His teaching philosophy is rooted in equity, empathy, and high expectations. He believes every student has unique strengths and the ability to thrive when given the right support and opportunities. He is passionate about creating a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to grow both academically and personally. Prior to joining Atmosphere Academy, he has worked with students across a range of abilities and backgrounds, both in Ghana and the Bronx NY, helping them build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve meaningful goals. He is excited to bring that experience to Atmosphere and collaborate with families and fellow educators to ensure every learner succeeds. Mr Sarpong also enjoys exploring new ideas, engaging in community work, and continuing to learn and grow professionally.
